Trigger Point & Deep Tissue Massage
What is Tigger point therapy?
Trigger point therapy is a treatment that targets knots in your muscles that cause pain in other areas. For example, a knot in your shoulder might give you a headache, or one in your buttocks might make your lower back ache. This pain can be sharp or dull and is often hard to pinpoint.
Sometimes, you feel pain in one place, but it’s actually coming from somewhere else. This can make it tough to figure out what’s really causing the pain and can lead to long-term discomfort. Your body might start compensating for the pain by using the wrong muscles or leaning to one side.
Trigger point therapy hunts down these painful spots and releases them. Afterward, it’s a good idea to get a massage to help your muscles relearn healthy movement patterns and prevent the pain from coming back. This keeps your body moving well and stops tension from building up again.
What to expect in my Massage....
Trigger point therapy can be a game-changer for a bunch of muscle issues or ongoing pains. Whether you’re dealing with tight muscles, wonky posture, sudden injuries, or back troubles, this technique can really help ease the discomfort. Trigger points often crop up after getting banged up, overworking certain muscles, or just slouching too much, so getting some trigger point therapy alongside your regular massage can be a smart move.
It’s a part of different kinds of massages, like sports, deep tissue, or remedial massage. Basically, your therapist applies gradual pressure to those achy spots to break up those muscle “knots.” It might flare up your usual pain for a bit, but that’s usually temporary. Eventually, things start to loosen up, and you’ll feel less pain or more movement right away. Sometimes, though, the painful spot isn’t where you’d expect it to be, so it’s helpful to let your therapist know how much it hurts. They might also remind you to take some deep breaths to relax and calm your body down during the treatment.
